Girkin Demands Putin's Resignation

The saboteur said that the coup in Russia was successful.

In Moscow, against the backdrop of a military revolt of the Wagnerites, a conference of the "Club of Angry Patriots" of the former "DPR Minister of Defense" Igor Girkin started working.

The conference participants call on Putin to introduce martial law and get ready for a new stage of "distemper" provoked by the Wagner rebellion led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, The Moscow Times reports.

Girkin, in particular, told his comrades-in-arms that despite the curtailment of Prigozhin's rebellion, a coup had taken place in the country:

“I emphasize that this is not an attempted coup, but a real coup. Why do I think so? Because as a result of this rebellion, which had very serious grounds outside the Wagner PMC, a serious redistribution of the centers of power in the Russian Federation took place. It’s not obvious now. There are no outward signs. They haven't been announced yet. Even if Mr Shoigu and Mr Gerasimov retain their positions of the enormous power, they still will lose it in the future.

"Angry patriot" Girkin also urged Putin to start "acting like supreme commander" or step down.

“If the president does not accept responsibility to the people for waging a big and serious war, how can you expect any other officials to be responsible for their actions? If the president is not ready to take the leadership over the creation of war ready conditions in the country, and is not ready for the powers of the supreme commander-in-chief, then he really needs to transfer the powers, but legally, to someone who is capable of such hard work,” the saboteur said.

As the Charter97.org website reported, the leader of the Wagnerites, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced the start of a military coup. On June 24, Wagner troops took Rostov-on-Don and marched through the Rostov, Voronezh and Lipetsk regions of the Russian Federation. Wagner troops with armoured vehicles entered the Moscow region and approached a distance of 200 km to Moscow, after which Prigozhin ordered a retreat. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Prigozhin had been acquitted of a criminal charge of rebellion and would live in Belarus.
