Mysterious Hot Air Balloon Discovered On Poland-Russia Border

Previously, a similar one flew from the territory of Belarus.

Near the border with the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation in the Polish city of Braniewo, the police discovered an object resembling a balloon, PAP reports.

The Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship Police Department, located in the Braniewo district, reported that at around 12:00 on Friday, June 30, it received a message from a local resident.

The man reported that he had found an object that looked like a balloon. A police patrol was sent to the scene. Police spokesman Rafał Jackowski noted that the item was seized and handed over to the military.

“According to preliminary data, the object found today in the Braniewo region is a balloon. Now the relevant authorities are conducting an investigation,” the Polish Ministry of Defense said.

Balloons in Poland

In mid-May, a balloon was detected in the airspace of Poland, it flew in from the territory of Belarus. The Polish military conducted a search for a balloon in the area of the city of Kalei, about 50 servicemen of the Polish Territorial Defense Forces were involved in the search activities.

The object was found in a corn field 4 kilometers from the village of Biała Pieska. It is noted that only a few kilometers away are the training ground and a large military unit. The fragments are being studied by the military in order to establish the type of the object — whether it is meteorological or reconnaissance.
