Writer, Photographer Dzmitry Bayarovich And His Wife Sentenced To Three Years Of Liberty Restriction At Home

The verdict was passed by Judge Yulia Inchyna.

The court of the Leninski district of Minsk passed a verdict in the case of the writer and photographer Dzmitry Bayarovich and his wife Valeryja Bayarovich. They were accused of “organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order, or participating in them” under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code.

Judge Yulia Inchyna sentenced Dzmitry and Valeryja to three years of liberty restriction without sending them to a specialized facility, human rights activists report.

Dzmitry worked at the STV state television channel, but in 2020 he quit in protest against violence towards participants in peaceful protests.
