The Russian aviation industry is facing problems due to sanctions.
A Superjet 100 airliner in Russia had the skin of one of its engines fall off in mid-air during takeoff, Dialog reported. According to Russian news agencies, the serious accident occurred on a flight operated by Azimut Airlines. The plane was flying from Russia to Yerevan.
The crew was frightened and decided to make an emergency landing and return to the airport, the Russian TG channel Baza reported. At the same time, passengers on the plane were able to film the opened flaps of the left engine nacelle on their cell phone cameras. Eyewitnesses also reported that one of the opened flaps later fell off.
Experts predict serious problems for the Russian aviation industry due to the sanctions imposed on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine by the occupying army. The shortage of engines, spare parts and maintenance services will become more frequent in the medium term.
