The Armed Forces of Ukraine told how the ring around the city is closing.
Knocking out the enemy from positions in the area of Andriivka, Donetsk region, can help complete the operation to encircle Bakhmut.
Spokesperson of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Cherevaty told about it on the air of the telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports.
“The settlement [Andriivka - Ed.], like any settlements around Bakhmut, allows us to encircle Bakhmut as well as force out or encircle the enemy,” he said.
Cherevaty added that the enemy has no longer superiority at all. The occupiers are preparing very well and deploying landmines along the approaches to their positions, therefore, before assault operations, all units undergo strong training and coordination.
“Including how to cross minefields, anti-tank ditches, including using the German Bibers [Armored bridge-laying machine - Ed.],” he said.
Earlier, the representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalev, said that the enemy was forced to withdraw from positions near Andriivka. He also noted that the Ukrainian troops were successful in the direction of Staromayorske on the Southern front. Soon, the Ukrainian forces clarified that the defenders of Ukraine were able to advance 500 meters along the front line near the village of Staromayorske, Donetsk region.
