Cherevaty About Bakhmut: AFU Confidently Gaining Momentum

Ukrainian defenders are using tactics of manoeuvres, ambushes rather than direct frontal attacks.

Ukraine's armed forces are "slowly but confidently" advancing around Bakhmut, Donetsk Region. Ukrainian defence forces are gaining momentum every day. This was stated to CNN by the speaker of the Eastern grouping of the AFU troops Serhiy Cherevaty.

According to him, the Ukrainian military ware able to advance by hundreds of metres a day and capture kilometres of territory every week in the Bakhmut area.

"This is a tactic of slow but steady advance. We realise that we have comparable forces and means, and sometimes the enemy outnumbers us," Cherevaty said.

He added that the AFU uses the tactics of coverage, manoeuvres, ambushes, rather than direct frontal attacks.

"And that's how we are gradually moving forward," he explained.
