Investigation Into New Criminal Case Against Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk Ends

The political prisoner is now held in the penal colony #24 in Zarechcha.

“For almost a month we did not know where Palina was and what was happening to her. All this time there was no news from my wife. They refused to inform either us or the lawyer about her whereabouts,” says Andrei Sharenda, the husband of the political prisoner and activist of the European Belarus civil campaign, on Facebook.

Anxiety for her mixed with the hope that on August 6, when her term of imprisonment ended, Palina would be released.

The wave of solidarity with Palina, joined by well-known European politicians, also gave hope for this.

But today it became known for sure that Palina remained in the penal colony #24 in Zarechcha. It also became known that the investigation into the new criminal case under Article 411 is over. One of these days Palina and the lawyer will start studying the materials of the case.

Then the case will be passed on to the prosecutor's office, and later to the court. Palina will be transferred to the pre-trial detention center this week.
