Former Russian Commander Of Occupation Forces In Ukraine Died

Colonel-General Gennady Zhydko, former commander of the Eastern Military District and former Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, has died. Mikhail Degtyarev, the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory of the Russian Federation, reported.

General Zhidko was 57 years old.

“The Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Gennady Valerievich Zhydko, died in Moscow following a long illness,” Degtyarev wrote on Telegram. He noted that Zhidko held the post of Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation in Moscow. Also, he was the commander of the troops of the Eastern Military District in Khabarovsk.

In May 2022, Zhydko led the Russian occupation forces in Ukraine.
