Lithuania Reveals When Other Border Checkpoints With Belarus Might Be Closed

Vilnius has created a working group.

In Lithuania, the National Crisis Management Center (NCMC) is due next week to present the conclusion of an interdepartmental working group on in which cases a decision should be made to close other border checkpoints on the border with Belarus.

This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Agne Bilotaitė, a target="_blank" href=https://www.delfi.lt/>Delfi reports.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, she is waiting for all the results of the working group to be presented, which should happen next week.

“There is a working group led by the head of the NCMC. It sets threat levels and indicators and, based on this, determines the prospects for our border checkpoints,” Bilotaitė noted.

The minister added that the working group is preparing a systematic conclusion, which proposes different stages, depending on different threat indicators and the levels themselves.

“It also apparently provides for a corresponding restriction of work or closure of border checkpoints, depending on the level of threat,” Bilotaitė clarified.
