Newly elected US President Donald Trump may become the Man of the Year 2024 according to Time magazine, Politico reports citing three sources.

According to the sources, Trump plans to ring a bell on the opening day of the New York Stock Exchange to mark his victory.

In 2016, Trump became the Man of the Year according to Time after he won the presidential election. He then became the 13 US presidents to receive the same honour, including Joe Biden.

The shortlist of contenders for the Man of the Year 2024 according to Time includes Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, businessman Elon Musk and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as Russian politician Alexei Navalny's wife Yulia Navalnaya.
