‘There Were Two Direct Hits’: Ukraine Announces One Of Dnipro HPPs Is In Critical Condition

It is not working.

The Russian occupiers launched two missiles at the Dnipro hydroelectric power station, which with a direct hit damaged the station, in particular, the support and crane beams. One of the stations, HPP-2, is in critical condition, Ukrhydroenergo director Ihor Sirota said on Radio Svoboda on Friday, March 22.

He explained that the DniproHPP in Zaporizhzhia consists of two stations, both of which are not yet operational.

“HPP-2 is in critical condition, HPP-1 is not working either at the moment. We are taking measures to raise the gates and process the water, since due to the station we cannot do it,” Sirota said.

According to him, it is necessary to completely restore the machine room and electrical equipment of the station. Sirota suggested that HPP-2 will not be able to operate for a certain period or will function in a limited mode. Detailed information about the consequences of Russian attacks on hydroelectric power stations will be known throughout the day, he added.

There are no casualties among the employees of the Dnipro HPP, the head of Ukrhydroenergo said.
