Media: EU Will Deal Crushing Economic Blow To Lukashenka

Ukraine has finally reached a consensus with neighboring and Baltic countries, as well as the European Commission, to ban the supply of Russian and Belarusian food to the European Union.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

According to him, it is expected that the legal ban will be introduced in April.

“This will be the most striking political project of the European Parliament, which is completing its term and, according to the rules of the European Commission, will be updated after the upcoming elections. It is expected that at the Eurosummit of the heads of EU member states, approval will be received (of a ban on the import of Russian and Belarusian food products — edit.). Legally, this ban will be approved in April,” he said.

According to Kachka, the corresponding document has already been prepared and proposed to the European Commission.

“This is a very good document that allows us to further expand the same mechanism not only to agricultural goods that were not subject to sanctions, but also to metallurgy. This is important for us, since we will be able to implement the project of displacing Russian raw materials and semi-finished products from the European market and replacing them with Ukrainian ones,” Kachka emphasized.

He also noted that it is fundamentally important for Ukraine to convey to the European community the absurdity of access of Russian and Belarusian goods to the EU market.
