Here's what kind of cargo they were carrying.
Lithuanian border guards intercepted a drone flying from Belarus. It had a cargo of 280 packs of smuggled cigarettes attached to it. This is reported by the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service.
The incident occurred in Shalchininkai district on the night of March 7. A drone carrying NZ Gold cigarettes was shot down by the officers of the Border Guard Service using anti-drone equipment. It had a GPS transmitter attached to it, which is needed to track the location of the cargo.
The person operating the drone has not yet been identified.
It is reported that this is not the first case in recent days, when smugglers are trying to deliver cigarettes from Belarus to Lithuania using drones. On March 6, Lithuanian border guards found an exploded drone in Druskininkai district, next to which there was a package with 500 packs of Minsk Capital QS cigarettes.
