He’s working for Russia.
Former KGB Major General Oleg Kalugin told Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon that Lukashenka cooperated with Russian special services:
— After the collapse of the USSR, Ukraine became the central point of the security agencies in order to prevent further withdrawal from Russia. They organized real intelligence work there, like in the West. The same situation is in the Baltic countries.
The only country where this did not happen is Belarus, where Lukashenko constantly cooperated with the KGB.
— And did he cooperate?
— Of course. That is why Belarus had the most stable order (from Russia's point of view — editor's note).
As Charter97.org reported, in 2022 a document was published stating that Lukashenko was recruited into the State Security Committee as an agent under the pseudonym "Valet".
