The amounts of the fees run into the tens of millions of dollars.
U.S. Democratic Party candidates are raising significantly more in donations than their Republican rivals in several key Senate races. This financial advantage may indicate strong voter interest in the race for Congress in the 2026 midterm elections, writes Axios.
Democrat James Talarico, who is running for the Senate from Texas, posted a particularly impressive result. In the third quarter, his campaign raised $64 million—more than three times as much as Republican Ken Paxton, who raised $18 million.
Even Republican Senator Bernie Moreno was stunned by these figures. “My God, wow! That’s just an incredible amount,” he said upon learning of Talalico’s fundraising total.
A similar pattern is evident in other states. In Georgia, Democrat John Ossoff raised $33.1 million, compared to $2.8 million for Republican Mike Collins. In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed raised $30.7 million, while former Congressman Mike Rogers raised $9.7 million.
Democrats are also ahead of their rivals in Ohio, Maine, Alaska, Iowa, North Carolina, and Kansas.
Republicans have significant funds from political committees supporting their candidates. Nevertheless, the difference in donations made directly to the campaigns points to a noticeable gap in the enthusiasm of the two parties’ supporters.
A financial advantage does not in itself guarantee victory, but it gives Democrats more opportunities for advertising, campaigning across the states, and mobilizing voters ahead of the November election.
