Zelensky Reveals Details Of Candid Conversation With Trump

It was about a peace plan.

At the end of July 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with US presidential candidate Donald Trump. In an interview with American CNN journalist Fareed Zakaria, the Ukrainian President revealed some details of this conversation.

He said that Trump expressed commitment to the Ukrainian state and understanding of how difficult it is to survive during a war.

Zelensky noted that he would share the peace plan with both US presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, as well as with the current US President Joe Biden. He called this an honest and correct decision. Only after that will the peace plan be made public.

In addition, the Ukrainian President commented on Trump's behavior during the debate with Harris on September 10, as he twice avoided directly answering the question of whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war, and said that ending it was in the interests of the United States.

He stressed that he does not understand these statements by Trump, because he does not know what he meant.

“But my position is that the pre-election period and pre-election statements are pre-election statements. Sometimes they are not very realistic. These statements, of course, made us worry about our people. But I had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump and he was very supportive, and we had a good conversation... He understands how difficult it is to survive during a war. That is why I want to share this plan, to hear his reaction,” Zelensky added.
