Four More Israeli Hostages Released

They have been held captive since October 2023.

Hamas has handed over four Israeli hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross. According to Reuters, they are female soldiers who were taken captive on October 7, 2023.

IDF soldiers Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag were kidnapped on October 7, 2023, from a post in Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The process of their transfer to the ICRC took place in Palestine Square in Gaza City.

As previously reported by the BBC, in exchange, Israel will release 180 Palestinian prisoners from prison. They are expected to include members of Islamic Jihad, Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), some of whom are serving life sentences.

Today's exchange was the second since the ceasefire agreement went into effect. In the first, Hamas handed over three Israeli civilians in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners.
