Arrow and quadcopters have been dispatched.
On the weekend, October 11 and 12, the Interior Ministry of Belarus announced about large-scale checks on the roads, which would be carried out by traffic police patrols in connection with the worsening weather conditions, as well as to prevent and suppress traffic violations.
The department warned that the crews of special unit "Strela" from Hrodna and Mahiliou voblasts had been sent to Vitsebsk voblast. They also promised to carry out a large-scale inspection of highways with the help of quadrocopters, covert patrolling and CCTV cameras.
The Interior Ministry assured that first of all they would monitor violations of traffic rules, which could provoke accidents "with serious consequences," namely:
driving under the influence of intoxicants;
violation of speed limits;
violation of the rules of overtaking and passing crosswalks.
The Interior Ministry also urged Belarusians to remember about the usual autumn phenomena - fog and rain.
"Motorists should switch to a measured driving style: choose a safe speed and distance, turn on low beam headlights, avoid dangerous rearrangements and maneuvers, increase vigilance when passing crosswalks," reads the recommendation of the Interior Ministry.
As for pedestrians and cyclists, the Ministry asked them to think about clothing, advising to choose one that provides increased visibility, as well as to wear retroreflective elements (flickers).
