Winners Of The Nobel Prize In Economics Have Been Named

Joel Mokyr, Philip Aghion and Peter Hovitt will receive the award.

Nobel Week 2025, held in Sweden and Norway from October 6-13, traditionally ended with the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Economics.

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, Maria Corini Machado, was announced last, followed by the names of the economics laureates.

The 2025 award went to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion and Peter Hovitt - "for explaining innovation-driven economic growth".

One part of the prize went to Joel Mokyr - "for identifying the preconditions for sustainable growth based on technological progress". The second part went jointly to Philip Aghion and Peter Hovitt "for their theory of sustainable growth driven by creative destruction".
