MAZ Sales In Russia Almost Halved

Belarusian buses are burning on the roads because of cheap components.

In September 2025, 30 new buses of Minsk Automobile Plant were sold on the Russian market - 3.8 times more than a year earlier (8), according to analyzed "Pozirkam" data of the agency "ACM-holding" (RF).

The most buses were supplied last month by Russian manufacturers PAZ (RF) - 399 (+19.8%), KamAZ (RF) - 100 (+42.9%) and NefAZ - 135 (-16.1%).

In the first nine months of this year, 192 MAZ buses (335; down 1.7 times) were sold in the Russian market.

Total for 2024, MAZ sold 504 units of this equipment in Russia (in 2023 - 925; -45.5%) - 9th place (2.6% share).

Last year's sales leaders were PAZ (8.114; +26.3%), LiAZs (2.889; +63.2%) and Yutong (2.215; +6.2%).

Large industrial enterprises - BelAZ, BMZ, MTZ, MAZ, as well as concerns Belneftekhim and Bellesbumprom - failed to meet the targets for product deliveries to Russia. This, according to the Belarusian Embassy in Moscow, was discussed on September 10 at a meeting of the interdepartmental working group to monitor the situation with supplies to Russia.

"Despite the positive dynamics of export growth rates, there are negative trends in some commodity groups, failure to meet export targets by some state bodies and enterprises," reads the press release.

"Everyone has heard that in his annual address, the President of Russia announced that by 2030, the subjects of the federation should receive about 40,000 rubles for exports to Russia. The money for this has been allocated. The task of the Belarusian industry is to join in and provide at least 30% of the required volumes," said Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting on industrial development on April 9, 2024.

At the same time, he noted that "domestic products are inferior to analogues both in price and quality.

Belarusian buses regularly catch fire while driving in Russia and Belarus, the reason for this being sanctions imposed on MAZ by democratic countries, which deprived it of some quality components.

The last such case, which was reported by the media, was recorded in Samara on October 9. Before that, buses burned: on July 5 in Irkutsk, on May 14 in Voronezh region, on April 5 in St. Petersburg, on March 23 in Kirov, on January 13 in Lipetsk.

In January-September MAZ sold 1.7 times less new buses on the Russian market than a year earlier.
