The location has been identified.
Internal tensions are escalating in the Gaza Strip following the Israeli withdrawal from part of the territory, with clashes between armed groups, accompanied by violence and public executions.
According to CNN.
In several areas of Gaza, clashes have erupted between Hamas fighters and rival militias. CNN reports on a video that has circulated on social media. It shows a group of masked gunmen, some wearing green Hamas armbands, executing eight men blindfolded in front of a crowd in the center of the city.
The publication specifies that the location of the shooting was identified as the Al Sabra neighborhood in western Gaza, but the time of the incident could not be confirmed.
Incident Details and Reactions
Experts estimate that the event occurred after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect, as Israeli troops were in the area before that.
Fresh destruction of buildings is visible in the video. The detainees - adult men - are dragged into the square with their hands tied behind their backs, some of them stripped and barefoot.
CNN notes: "Some militants forcibly beat captives as they are lined up for execution. The militants rejoice after shooting the detainees."
Reaction from human rights activists and Hamas
The Palestinian human rights organization Al-Mezan called what is happening an "extrajudicial execution of citizens" and demanded an investigation.
Hamas-linked Radaa security forces, for their part, said they "carried out a precise operation in central Gaza in which wanted persons were neutralized," but provided no proof.
They claimed that sweeps and arrests of those involved in shootings and attacks on civilians were underway in the city.
Causes of Escalation
CNN clarifies that the video came after a series of reports of clashes between Hamas and the Doghmush clan based in al-Sabra. Sources linked the outbreak of violence to the killing of the son of a senior Hamas commander.
Al-Mezan human rights activists said the shootings took place in the Sabra and Tel al-Hawa neighborhoods shortly after the truce began, and execution footage circulated online following the arrests of family members. Officials have not yet commented on what happened.
