"The Budanov sanctions will directly affect four businesses.
The fuel deficit in Russia, which was caused by the AFU drone attacks, will also hit the representatives of the small, but noticeably grown over the last couple of years Belarusian industry.
The reduction of refining at Russian refineries means even less oil produced (let's not forget about the continuing tightening of trade in oil itself) and, as a consequence, fewer contracts, advances, money for oilfield services and equipment.
It was the Belarusians who helped Russian oilmen after a decent group of specialized Western businesses left Russia. And in competition with the locals and the Chinese (unlike other industries), our compatriots have been on a level here until recently.
Accounts of experts of the portal "Belarusians and the market", last year sales of oilfield services and equipment brought at least $180 million to Belarusian participants of the Russian market.
This amount is distributed among 4 companies or groups of companies: one state-owned and three private ones.
"Belorusneft-Siberia"
The first of them is Belorusneft's subsidiary Belorusneft-Siberia. Based in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the company is generally the largest Belarusian employer in Russia. At the beginning of this year, Belorusneft-Sibir employed 1,933 people.
Since its establishment, in 2008, this structure has been engaged in drilling, workover of exploration and production wells, as well as providing services to increase oil production and enhance oil recovery.
Besides its own oil producing company Yangpur, the list of Belorusneft-Siberia's clients includes subsidiaries of Russian oil and gas giants - Rosneft, Gazpromneft, Novatek, etc.
The company has never suffered from lack of orders. But after half of the big four oilfield service companies left the Russian market (Halliburton and Baker Hughes, and Weatherford International and Schlumberger remained with restrictions), the business of Belorusneft-Sibir went uphill.
"Fidmash"
The well-known developer and manufacturer of coiled tubing equipment was established in 2001 in Minsk. And already in 2005, the Belarusian founders sold it to one of the world leaders in the production of oil and gas equipment, the American corporation National Oilwell Varco.
As part of NOV "Fidmash", Vitebsk plant "Novmash" and the Russian trading and service subsidiary "Fidservice" stayed until the summer of 2022. In July 2022, NOV exited the business, even managing to take $4 million in dividends less 5% foreign income tax. The asset was split equally between the managers - two Belarusian and two Russian citizens
Last year, Fidmash almost regained the sales it had before 2022. But unlike the time when Fidmash was actively helping oil production and Ukrainians, now about 90% of the volume of business is done by Russian clients. Fidmash's clients include Belorusneft, subsidiaries of Lukoil and Surgutneftegaz, and Schlumberger, which became SLB after rebranding.
"Seismotekhnika"
The oldest Belarusian manufacturer of oil and gas equipment, based in Gomel, was a structural unit of Belorusneft until the early 2010s. But then its controlling stake was sold to the Italian manufacturer of similar equipment Drillmec, part of the Trevi Group.
The Russian market is also a determining one for Seismotekhnika. In recent years, the manufacturer has been actively cooperating with the structures belonging to Eastsib Holding. This holding is a key participant in the project to create a new Russian "oil Eldorado" in Sakha-Yakutia.
FID Group
At last, another Belarusian player in the Russian oilfield services market is FID Group. This business is developed by former owners and managers of "Fidmash".
FID Group - FID Group is also technologies and equipment for increasing oil production efficiency (coiled tubing, hydraulic fracturing, etc.). Its structure includes two enterprises in Belarus ("Novinka" and "Natrix") and the production (plant "Mashoil" in Yartsevo) and service base ("DMTechnologies", "Coyle-service") in Russia, which has expanded in the last couple of years. One of FID Group's key customers is - Gazprom
