The DPRK soldiers were advancing in a dense formation.
Ukrainian forces have defeated an infantry unit of North Korean mercenaries who tried to launch an attack in Kursk region. According to military observer Yigal Levin, the enemy lost fighters as a result of tactics incompatible with modern warfare. He got the information directly from the primary source, one of the Ukrainian artillerymen in Kursk region.
The North Korean units were attacking in tight formation and stretched out across the entire plantation in the grey zone with about one soldier for every four trees. This allowed Ukrainian intelligence to spot them quickly and fire. Initially, the Ukrainian military launched FPV drones, but the enemy apparently used interception systems, possibly net launchers.
However, this did not save them.
In response, Ukrainian artillery attacked them with fire, destroying not only the North Koreans but also the FPV drones that had been shot down earlier.
Finding themselves under fire, the enemy tried to run across the field to take cover in another landing. However, there were already wounded among them, who were moving slowly and delaying the others.
The second attempt to hide also ended in failure - the AFU artillery continued targeting strikes, killing the enemy.
The Ukrainian army has a complete advantage in reconnaissance and artillery, making such dense attacks a death trap for Russian and North Korean troops. Ukraine's drones monitor the battlefield and the fire is adjusted in real time.
Having realised this failure, the Russian military are forced to use whatever fast means of transport they can to avoid repeating the fate of the North Koreans. They massively use buggies, motorbikes and golf carts, trying to overcome the grey zone as quickly as possible.
However, the tactic of ‘meat assaults’ remains unchanged - and that means continued mass casualties among the occupation troops.
