On the night of August 30, Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset was hospitalized. His participation in next week's events is still in doubt.

The Council of Europe's website reports.

"Alain Berset was hospitalized on Friday night. His condition is not alarming, but as a precautionary measure he will remain under observation for a few days," the publication said.

It added that the official's participation in the Bled Strategic Forum had to be canceled. The Slovenian authorities were notified.

"At this stage, his participation in the events scheduled for next week remains uncertain," the Council of Europe concluded.

The reason for the hospitalization was not given.
