Flights are being rerouted to other cities.
On the evening of October 13, a “partial” evacuation was carried out at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport due to a “fire alarm going off.”
This was reported by Dialog.UA, which monitored social media.
On the evening of October 13, Rosaviatsiya imposed temporary restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky due to Ukrainian drone attacks on strategic targets in Moscow and the Moscow Region. Airlines adjusted their flight schedules due to the restrictions at the airports. Shortly thereafter, a “partial” evacuation was carried out at Vnukovo Airport. The official reason was “a fire alarm going off” in Terminal A due to “vapors generated while cleaning the air grill in a café.”
As a result, 10 planes flying to Vnukovo Airport from Turkey were forced to change their routes. In total, more than 30 aircraft bound for Moscow were diverted to other cities due to the security restrictions that had been imposed. Of these, Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg) received more than 20 flights.
On the evening of October 13 and into the night of October 14, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a massive airstrike against strategic targets in Moscow and the Moscow Region. Details are still being clarified. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claims that on the night of October 14, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down about 100 Ukrainian UAVs flying toward the Russian capital.
