There are casualties and injuries.

In Zakarpattia, a 45-year-old priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate has been charged with shooting at passersby on the street—three people were killed, and two others are in the hospital. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

It is noted that law enforcement received a report of the shooting on October 15 at around 4:00 p.m., and the man was detained after the shooting in the village of Vyshkovo in Zakarpattia.

According to the investigation, the man was walking down the street and firing a rifle at passersby.

“Two local residents, aged 62 and 64, died at the scene. An 84-year-old woman who had sustained a chest injury later died at the hospital. Two other victims remain under medical supervision; one of them is in serious condition,” the prosecutor’s office stated.

The statement said that during searches of the suspect’s home and the church where he served, law enforcement officers seized a rifle, a handgun with ammunition, and a bag containing a substance preliminarily identified as cannabis. Forensic tests are expected to determine whether the seized weapons were used during the shooting. A blood sample was also taken from the man to test for alcohol and drugs.

The priest was informed that he is suspected of intentional murder and attempted murder of two or more people. Law enforcement is considering several possible motives, the main one being hooliganism. The prosecutor’s office will request that the suspect be held in custody without the right to bail.
