Dozens of Russians have been taken prisoner.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out an underground counteroffensive operation codenamed “Veles” in the Kupiansk sector. They advanced more than 15 kilometers behind Russian lines via underground tunnels.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing the Telegram channel of the “Charter” corps.

The operation was carried out by a group under the command of the 2nd Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard, “Charter.” It combined an underground offensive with surface operations and drone strikes.

This prevented the occupiers from advancing into the rear of Kupiansk.

More than 30 occupiers were taken prisoner. Enemy casualties exceeded 100.

“We observed how the enemy was operating underground. And we studied how they did it. The Russians intended to use gas pipelines to infiltrate behind our lines. So we went underground ourselves. We anticipated the enemy’s actions and mastered the tactics of underground combat,” explained the commander of the “Charter” Corps.

The “Charter” Brigade, the R.U.G. Assault Regiment, the “Lava” Unmanned Systems Regiment, and the “Achilles” Unmanned Systems Brigade joined the operation. Units of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) were also involved, including the “Freedom of Russia” Legion and the RDK.
