The protesters applauded the security forces.

After the former president of Serbia, pro-Russian politician Aleksandar Vučić conceded defeat in the parliamentary elections, police units began to withdraw from downtown Belgrade. Crowds of people celebrating the victory of the student opposition saw off the departing police trucks with applause, according to "Dialog".

For several months, the streets around key government buildings were under heightened security, suggesting that the authorities were preparing for clashes with demonstrators. However, after the election results were announced, the police began to scale back their presence in the city center, and some of the barricades were removed.

Belgrade celebrated the opposition’s victory all night long. The “Student List” party won over 52% of the vote, decisively defeating the party of former President Vučić. He was forced to officially concede defeat and join the opposition.
