The Ukrainian offensive continues.

The offensive "Vivaldi" operation by the Ukrainian Defense Forces had not yet been completed as of early October. Troops of the Third Army Corps have managed to liberate approximately 125–140 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with Reuters, highly praising the results of the offensive operations. “‘Vivaldi’ is a very successful operation. It is not yet complete. As of today, approximately 125–140 square kilometers have been deoccupied,” the Ukrainian head of state said.

He clarified that Ukrainian defenders could have launched the assaults as early as 2025, but the command decided to postpone the start to ensure better preparation.

“The Ukrainian military wanted to launch this operation a year ago, but at that time it wasn’t sufficiently prepared. “Thank God, we decided to postpone it for a short while, and now we’re seeing good results and fewer casualties,” the president said.

Over the past two to three months, as Zelenskyy noted, the number of Russian occupiers killed and wounded has increased.

“Since the beginning of the year, their losses have been 30,000–32,000 per month (21,000–22,000 killed, the rest seriously wounded). Now we’re talking about 42,000 casualties per month. Thus, during the offensive, we lost several times fewer people than Russia, even though they were on the defensive,” Zelenskyy said.
