It Has Been Confirmed That Russia Lost Another Su-57 Fighter Jet At The Akhtubinsk Airfield

The effects are visible from space.

Russia may lose yet another of its fighter jets. A fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet caught fire on October 29 at the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan Region. This was reported by Defense Romania citing the Telegram channel Absolutely Reliable Source, which published satellite images of the base.

According to preliminary reports, the aircraft caught fire due to an abnormal situation that occurred during engine startup.

In other words, there was no external interference this time, and the aircraft caught fire before it even had a chance to take off.

According to the publication’s calculations, this is already the fourth known incident in 2026 in which a Su-57 was damaged or lost. For example, on April 25, Ukrainian drones reached the Shagol airfield in the Chelyabinsk region and struck two of these fighters there at once.

In Russia, the Su-57 is marketed as a multi-role fighter capable of attacking targets in the air, on the ground, and at sea. According to available data, it can reach speeds of approximately 2,600 km/h and can carry guided weapons, including air-to-surface missiles. These aircraft are mass-produced at the aircraft plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
