The U.S. Has Removed The Former Belarusian Transportation Minister From Its Sanctions List

He died suddenly.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury has updated its list of specially designated nationals. In particular, the list removed the late former Belarusian Minister of Transport Alexei Avramenko.

Avramenko died suddenly on July 4, 2023. He was 46 years old. The cause of the minister’s death was not disclosed.

Avramenko was added to the U.S. Treasury Department’s blacklist in August 2021.
