Putin Embarrassed Himself Three Times On Teachers' Day

It is becoming increasingly difficult for the Russian dictator to express his thoughts.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for 73-year-old Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to express his thoughts.

At an event marking Teachers' Day, he stumbled three times. Dialog.UA looked into the details.

The first two blunders occurred when the Kremlin leader attempted to recite the famous poem by Fyodor Tyutchev “Russia Cannot Be Understood by Reason”. He couldn’t remember all four lines and misquoted them: he said “You simply have to believe in Russia” instead of the original “You can only believe in Russia.”

At the same time, Putin claimed that Russian schoolchildren had “absorbed this quatrain with their mother’s milk.” This moment has already been mocked online, with people noting that the Kremlin leader was apparently weaned rather late.

The climax of this speech was Putin’s attempt to explain the importance of nurturing an intellectual elite. He was unable to articulate his thoughts clearly and ended up saying the exact opposite. “We must not create a situation in which we end up with an intellectual elite that has been taught to think, while people who, in terms of their intellectual development, take a back seat. Under no circumstances can we allow such a situation to arise. A great deal depends on educators and teachers here!” said the dictator of the Russian Federation.

Online observers believe he inadvertently revealed the truth about his policies toward Russian youth. Proof of this is the record-breaking brain drain from the Russian Federation since the 1990s—at least 60,000 scientists have left the country over the past six years.
