Michael Douglas admitted that he had a secret romance with a co-star while filming *Basic Instinct*. But it wasn’t Sharon Stone, as many might have thought, according to People (translation by Charter97.org).

In his memoirs, the 82-year-old actor recounted his relationship with Jeanne Tripplehorn, who played psychologist Beth Garner in the film. According to Douglas, they deliberately kept their relationship a secret from the entire film crew.
“They were so focused on a possible relationship between Sharon and me that they didn’t notice the real relationship between me and Jeanne,” the actor writes.

While filming in San Francisco, Douglas and Tripplehorn spent a lot of time together off set. The actor admits that he fell deeply in love with his co-star, despite their nearly 20-year age difference.
Tripplehorn was initially reluctant to start a relationship with a married man. Douglas explained to her that his marriage to Dianne Lucker was effectively over; the couple was already living apart and both were seeing other people.
“I was head over heels for her,” recalls Douglas.

The romance lasted until filming wrapped, after which the actors went their separate ways. Before publishing his memoirs, Douglas called Tripplehorn and asked for her permission to talk about their relationship. She agreed.

The actor also revealed a romance with Kathleen Turner during the filming of *Romance with a Stone* in 1984.
