She was released into Lake Svyatoe.

In the Gomel Region, a man rescued a bird that was sitting on the side of the road and couldn't fly away. It turned out to be a rare species of bird. OSVOD reported on this unusual story.

The man who spotted the bird on the roadside reported his discovery to experts. It turned out to be a black-throated loon, listed in the Red Book of Belarus.

The bird was found to be healthy. It was released on Lake Svyatoe, where it will be able to return to its normal life.

Black-throated loons are protected due to their low population (in 2012, there were only a few dozen pairs of these birds in our country) and their vulnerability during the nesting season.

Belarus lies along these birds’ migration routes; in the spring and fall, they can be spotted almost anywhere in the country, while in winter they spend the season in southern Europe, along the coasts of the Black and Azov Seas.
