Kiev Announces Response To Fitzo And Orban's "energy Blackmail"

The Foreign Ministry reminds that Ukraine has quite formal mechanisms of cooperation with the EU.

Kiev is ready to officially complain to the European Union about Hungary and Slovakia if they carry out their threat of an energy blockade of Ukraine. This is said in a statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry condemned "ultimatums and blackmail" by the leadership of Hungary and Slovakia regarding the termination of energy supply between our countries, and also accused the governments of both states of playing along with the aggressor. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry noted that Budapest and Bratislava act to the detriment of their own energy companies, which supply Ukraine with electricity on a commercial basis.

"Such actions in the situation of massive and purposeful Russian shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and Moscow's attempts to leave Ukrainians without electricity, heating and gas during extreme cold weather are provocative, irresponsible and jeopardize the energy security of the entire region," the statement reads.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Ultimatums should be sent to the Kremlin, and definitely not to Kiev," the ministry added.
