It has become known what is contained in the 14-point memorandum.
U.S. and Iranian representatives could meet as early as next week in the Pakistani capital Islamabad to resume peace talks.
According to The Wall Street Journal.
Sources say the U.S. and Iran are working with mediators to draft a one-page, 14-point memorandum that would set the parameters of the one-month talks aimed at ending the end.
A number of other things about these talks are also important to know:
Iran has for the first time expressed its willingness to discuss its nuclear program;
the two sides are discussing the possibility of withdrawing part of Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium abroad (although public statements by the sides are contradictory);
details about the duration of the suspension of uranium enrichment or the possible removal of enriched uranium from the country remain unclear;
the working paper calls for Iran to loosen its control over the Strait of Hormuz;
the U.S. intends to lift the blockade of Iranian ports during these 30-day talks;
if the talks are successful, the one-month period could be extended by mutual agreement;
the extent of sanctions relief is up for debate, but could derail the talks.
By the way, for a few hours, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke to reporters again. He said he expected to receive notification of Iran's decision on the month-long talks as early as Friday evening (the day had just ended in the US).
"Supposedly I'll get a letter tonight. We'll see how it goes. We'll know soon," he said.
