There are 20 Belarusians working at just one hospital in a small Polish town.
A Threads user with the username trooper_an shared his friends’ plans to move from Belarus.
“A doctor I know from Belarus called and asked how things are here,” he writes. “He’s moving here soon and said that 12 other Belarusians are coming to the hospital where he’ll be working. And that’s just one hospital.”
Other users shared similar stories and discussed their views on the emigration of qualified specialists from Belarus to Poland. The website Charter97.org features some comments:
— I live in a city with a population of up to 100,000; my wife is a doctor. Almost all of our Belarusian acquaintances are doctors; her colleagues are here. At least 40 people. In a neighboring city with a population of 40,000, there are at least 20 Belarusian doctors in the hospital.
— Good luck in your new place. And the Lukafascist Agroreich should think about its behavior. Mission impossible, but still.
— Let him get his pockets, safe, and bank accounts ready—he’ll be a rich man; doctors in Poland earn a lot.
— Well, why not go, when with 10–15 years of experience during the pandemic, they were getting bonuses of 35–40 thousand.
— A doctor with 30 years of experience in Poland—head of a department plus their own practice. Total income of 90,000–120,000 zlotys.
— That’s great, I’m happy for the Belarusian doctors!
