The Russians didn't even make it to the first line of defense.
Ukrainian paratroopers repelled one of the largest Russian assaults in the Slavyansk sector—not a single enemy group even reached the first line of defense.
This was reported by "RBC-Ukraine" citing the 7th Airborne Corps.
“Paratroopers from the 81st Separate Airborne Regiment of the 7th Airborne Corps halted a two-day mechanized assault by the enemy in the Slavyansk direction,” the report states.
According to paratroopers, Russian troops launched several waves of attacks on Ukrainian positions over the course of two days.
What forces did Russia deploy?
For its assault operations, the Russian army used:
```
28 motorcycles;
1 tank;
3 infantry fighting vehicles;
7 vehicles;
more than 50 military personnel.
```
The Airborne Forces noted that the invaders attempted to break through the defenses, land infantry, and establish a foothold at strategic positions.
According to military sources, the enemy simultaneously deployed two assault groups along different routes.
One group was moving from Platonivka toward Zakytne, while the other was moving from Siversk toward the village of Kryva Luka.
“Thanks to the timely detection of the enemy, as well as the coordinated actions of intelligence and Border Guard Service units, the assault operations were halted even before they reached the first line of defense,” the Border Guard Service reported.
