The Kremlin should act quickly to make peace with Ukraine.
The Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN Dan Negrea stated that the United States supports Ukraine and its people in defending their sovereignty. At the same time, he emphasized that time is not on Russia’s side.
This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a broadcast of the UN Security Council meeting.
“The United States supports Ukraine in defending its freedom and sovereignty. The United States stands with the Ukrainian people, who are suffering from attacks that are damaging critical infrastructure and cultural heritage, including Russia’s strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra,” Negrea said.
At the same time, he cited recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that the war must end as soon as possible.
“As President Trump clearly stated during last week’s G7 summit, Russia must reach an agreement. Time is not on Moscow’s side,” emphasized the Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN.
He added that the Russian military is losing about 40,000 soldiers each month (killed and wounded), and that the Russian economy is currently “in an extremely dire situation.” Ukraine, for its part, is rapidly implementing innovations on the front lines.
According to the diplomat, Russia’s war against Ukraine has lasted “too long and must end.” And the only solution to this entire situation is diplomacy and negotiations, since nothing else “will stop this senseless killing.”
“The United States is committed to securing a ceasefire and reaching, through negotiations, an agreement that will end the Russian-Ukrainian war as soon as possible. Enough is enough! The time has come for an immediate ceasefire,” Negrea said.
In conclusion, he called on both warring parties to return to the negotiating table.
“Now is the time for Russia and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table and conclude a peace agreement,” the official concluded.
