The European Commission Backed The Ultimatum Issued By Zelenskyy To Lukashenko

Ukraine has the right to defend itself.

Ukraine has the right to self-defense. This is how European Commission spokesperson Anita Hipper commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s demand to dismantle relay stations in Belarus that assist Russian drones, according to Ukrinform.

“We would like to reiterate the EU’s position on Belarus. Belarus continues to facilitate Russian military aggression against Ukraine,” Hipper stated.

She also noted that, according to the European Union, Belarus engages in provocations against the EU, including violating its airspace and using migration as a tool of pressure.

“This is precisely why the EU has imposed sanctions against the Lukashenko regime and remains prepared to take further measures as long as the Belarusian authorities continue to act in this manner,” the European Commission spokesperson added.

Commenting on statements from the Ukrainian side, Hipper emphasized: “Of course, Ukraine has the right to defend itself.”

As a reminder, on June 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Minsk should dismantle the relay stations, which, according to Kyiv, help Russia target drone strikes on Ukrainian territory.

Later, Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine is aware of four such facilities in the Brest and Gomel regions and gave a week for their dismantling, warning that otherwise Ukraine may destroy these facilities on its own.
