Crimean Bridge Closed: Kerch Under Attack By Jet-Powered Drones

There was a power outage in Simferopol.

On the night of June 23, the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula was once again attacked by drones. Gunfire can be heard in Kerch, and Russian social media groups are warning of the threat of “jet-powered UAVs” to the region, according to “Focus”.

Amid the drone strikes, the occupying authorities closed traffic across the Crimean Bridge. This was reported by a Telegram channel monitoring the situation on the bridge.

Traffic was blocked around 11:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Russian monitoring channels warned of the threat posed by jet drones to the Kerch Peninsula, Kerch, the Crimean Bridge, the Taman Peninsula, Taman, the port of “Kavkaz,” and surrounding areas.

Around midnight, explosions were heard in the Nizhnegorsk District, located in the northeastern part of Crimea, according to the monitoring channel “Crimean Wind.” A short time later, the sounds of explosions, accompanied by a drone attack, were heard in Feodosia.

Soon, the drones reached Kerch, where a barrage of gunfire was heard near the closed Crimean Bridge. It is likely that the occupiers’ mobile fire teams were firing at the drones in the sky. Footage from the scene was posted online.

Around 1:00 a.m., the power went out for a short time in Simferopol and parts of the Simferopol District, according to online reports. Also, according to eyewitnesses, the power was cut off in the Soviet District of Crimea.

It is worth noting that in Anapa, Russia—located on the Black Sea coast in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation—an air raid alert was issued around midnight due to a threat from UAVs. In Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, explosions were heard around 1:00 a.m.: local social media groups reported that air defense systems were shooting down drones in the sky.
