In recent days, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on military targets on the peninsula.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with members of the government, commented on the strikes carried out by Ukrainian defense forces against Russian targets in occupied Crimea. His remarks on June 23 were quoted by Russian propaganda outlets RIA Novosti and TASS.
Putin, who had remained silent until then about the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on Crimea, predictably decided to blame Ukraine for everything. He noted that, due to alleged setbacks on the front lines, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had begun striking the occupiers’ civilian infrastructure. Ukraine, meanwhile, has repeatedly emphasized that it attacks only legitimate enemy targets, whereas Russia regularly shells peaceful Ukrainians.
The Kremlin leader stated that the defense forces aim to create problems with energy supplies and disrupt the tourist season in occupied Crimea. According to him, Russia is receiving information about this “through various channels.” He then instructed the Russian government and the Ministry of Defense to take additional measures and “reduce to zero” the consequences of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attacks on infrastructure.
