Major Attack On Crimea: Sevastopol Without Power, Fire In A Military Town Near Kerch

Explosions are rocking Simferopol.

In the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, a widespread power outage occurred on the night of June 24 following a series of explosions, that rocked the Crimean Peninsula, according to unian.net.

According to Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-appointed “governor” of the city, who posted on Telegram, the cause was a drone attack on the city’s energy infrastructure. As a result of the strike, the city was temporarily left completely without power.

“As a result of the enemy’s attack on our energy infrastructure, the city was temporarily left without power,” Razvozhayev stated.

At the same time, monitoring sources and eyewitnesses reported numerous explosions that were heard in various areas of the occupied peninsula throughout the night.

According to “Crimean Wind,” the main target of the attack was the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant in Sevastopol—one of the key facilities in Crimea’s power grid.

The occupying authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the power facility. Local residents have been urged to conserve their cell phone battery life until power is restored.

In addition to Sevastopol, residents of Bakhchisaray, Kerch, and the Ai-Petri Mountain area also reported explosions. A radar station belonging to a radio-technical battalion of the Russian Federation’s Aerospace Forces is located there.

Eyewitnesses also reported a fire near the village of Shafranoye, located west of the “Gvardeyskoye” military airfield. This location is known as one of the sites Russian troops use to launch “Shahed”/“Geran”-type attack UAVs.

According to monitoring channels, warehouses belonging to the 133rd Separate Logistics Brigade of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet (military unit 73998) are on fire as a result of the drone attack.

Power fluctuations have been reported in Simferopol. A large-scale emergency power outage has affected the central part of the peninsula. In particular, a number of villages in the Krasnogvardeisky District are without power.
