Up To +39: Belarus Is Experiencing A Record Heat Wave

The southwestern part of the country will be the epicenter of the heatwave.

A map of relative topography (500–1,000 hPa) from the ECMWF model shows a large-scale influx of tropical air into Eastern Europe in late June. As a result, Belarus will find itself in a zone of strong thermal gradients, according to the Telegram channel “MeteoVibe”.

The epicenter of the heat will be the southwestern part of the country. There, the thickness of the atmospheric layer—which has increased due to the heat—will rise to 576–580 dam (this means the 500 hPa pressure level will rise to 5,800 meters), and the temperature at the T850 level (about 1.5 km) will reach +23°C. Such readings are very rare for Belarus and could break all-time temperature records.

The maximum temperature in the southwest on Monday, June 29, could rise to +36…+39°C (ECMWF model), and tropical nights are expected—with temperatures no lower than +20°C.
