A Ukrainian Flag Has Been Raised Over The Kinburn Spit

The occupiers are fleeing.

Ukrainian defense forces raised the blue-and-yellow flag on the Kinburn Spit in the Mykolaiv region; Russian occupiers have retreated from their positions, according to a statement from the regional command of the “South” Territorial Defense Forces on Thursday, June 25.

“As a result of heavy fire, the Southern Defense Forces forced the occupiers to retreat from their positions; the remaining personnel are being evacuated, and the occupiers are abandoning their defensive lines,” the statement said.

The Kinburn Spit is a narrow sandy spit in the Mykolaiv Oblast of Ukraine, located at the westernmost tip of the Kinburn Peninsula.

It separates the freshwater Dnieper-Bug Estuary from the saltwater Yagorlytskyi Bay of the Black Sea. The site has the status of a national nature park thanks to its unique ecosystem (sandy steppes, relict forests, and lakes with pink pelicans). From a military standpoint, the spit is a strategically important site, as it allows for control over the exit from the ports of the Dnieper and Southern Bug rivers into the open sea.
