Last Night In Gomel, People Heard The Hum Of A Drone And The Sound Of An Explosion

The sound of the UAV was also heard in Dobrush.

An unmanned aerial vehicle flew over Gomel and may have exploded there tonight. Residents of Gomel claim that around 3 a.m., they heard a sound typical of a military UAV flying overhead, as well as an explosion. Prior to that, around 2 a.m., the hum of a drone was heard in Dobrush, according to “Flagstok”.

“Judging by the sound, the drone circled around, sometimes moving away, sometimes getting closer, and then flew off,” said an eyewitness.

“It was getting louder over Lyubenskoye, then it moved away, as if it had [flown] toward the bridge to Chenki,” wrote another Gomel resident on social media.

Several people reported that the explosion in Gomel was heard between 3 and 4 a.m., at least in the Zheleznodorozhny District (the “Selmashevsky” neighborhood) and the Sovetsky District (the “Shvedskaya Gorka” neighborhood).

It is not known for certain whether a single drone flew over the Gomel region or if there were several—nor is the UAV model known.
