He promised to step down in just a few weeks

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced that he will step down in the coming weeks and that the country will hold early elections, according to Reuters.

The Serbian leader announced his decision on June 27, 2026, while addressing his supporters at a pro-government rally in Belgrade.

"I will be president for just a few weeks, and then I will resign," Vučić said.

He also announced that early presidential and parliamentary elections would be held in the country.
