The U.S. Mint will begin minting a $1 gold coin featuring U.S. President Donald Trump. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced this on X.

According to Bessent, the coin symbolizes “patriotism and the enduring legacy of freedom.” “Featuring a portrait of Donald Trump, it celebrates the strength of American values and the principles of a nation committed to defending universal freedom,” the secretary wrote.

The U.S. Federal Arts Commission approved the issuance of a 24-karat gold coin back in March. It features a full-length portrait of Mr. Trump resting his fists on a table. The design was approved by the U.S. president himself. The coin is part of a commemorative series marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
