On the morning of July 15, U.S. forces carried out a series of strikes against targets in Iran that lasted an hour and a half.
Representatives of the U.S. Army’s Central Command (CENTCOM) reported this on social media platform X.
“During a 90-minute series of strikes, CENTCOM used precision-guided munitions to target coastal defense systems, as well as storage facilities and launch sites for cruise missiles on Greater Tunb Island. These strikes have further weakened Iran’s ability to target civilian shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” U.S. officers reported.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes against Iran began at 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time (1:00 p.m. Minsk time) and concluded by 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time (2:30 p.m. Minsk time).
In addition, U.S. officials also released a video that appears to show footage of the attack on Iran captured by a thermal imaging camera.
As CNN notes, the island of Greater Tunb is located at the western entrance to the Strait of Hormuz. It is one of several islands of strategic importance and forms part of Iran’s so-called “defense arc,” the journalists concluded.
