289 members of parliament voted for Sergey Koretsky.
On Thursday, July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretskyi, chairman of the board of NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” , as Prime Minister of Ukraine.
This was reported by “Suspilne”.
The report specified that 289 members of parliament voted in favor of the decision.
During his address to parliament, Koretsky outlined the main priorities of the future government. These include preparing the country for the heating season amid Russian attacks, strengthening defense capabilities, developing the economy, European integration, and expanding the capabilities of Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex.
“I want this Cabinet of Ministers to become a government of defense, a government of economic development, and a government of European integration,” he said.
Koretsky also highlighted the results of his work at the helm of Ukrnafta and Naftogaz. According to him, after the fight against corruption began, “Ukrnafta” transformed from a loss-making enterprise into a profitable one, generating billions in revenue for the state.
“I received exactly the same request from the president and the government when I was elected chairman of the board of NJSC Naftogaz. We weathered the harshest winter and ensured an uninterrupted gas supply to Ukrainians, despite critical losses in our own production,” he added.
Responding to a question about the possible replacement of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov with Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Koretsky emphasized that nominating a candidate for this position falls within the authority of the President of Ukraine. At the same time, he spoke highly of Klimenko’s work, calling him “a professional, decisive, and effective minister.”
